LOS ANGELES TIMES ARTICLE ON THE TEAM NOW RUNNING BREITBART.COM

Steve Bannon, left, and Larry Solov aim to see the late Andrew Breitbart’s online vision hit new heights. (Brian van der Brug, Los Angeles Times / August 1, 2012)

Back on August 1st the LA Times had a article about the team that this now in charge of Breitbart.com the article is quite informative and here is an excerpt.

Andrew Breitbart loathed the "institutional left," and what he called "the Democrat media complex." A son of Brentwood who cut his sharp online incisors working alongside blogging pioneers Matt Drudge and Arianna Huffington, Breitbart went on to forge an eponymous website and persona as one of the fiercest voices of the right. His mission appeared cut short March 1, when he died of heart failure. Breitbart was just 43.
But an unlikely crew of friends and associates — his oldest childhood friend, a pair of Harvard-educated lawyers, a financier/filmmaker who served in the Navy and a musician pal who reinforces the fallen leader's voice as the website's "minister of culture" — scarcely paused after the loss. Just three days later, with the blessing of Breitbart's widow, Susie, they launched a redesigned Breitbart.com website.
In the months since, Team Breitbart has worked feverishly — with up to 100 posts a day on "verticals" dubbed Big Hollywood, Big Government, Big Journalism and Big Peace — to make the site the go-to destination for conservatives.
"We are going to be the Huffington Post of the right," said Steve Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart News Network. "That is our focus every day."
That's a tall order in a crowded field — including the Weekly Standard, World Net Daily and the Daily Caller — which, at least for now, each draw more readers than Breitbart.com according to the rating service comScore.com. Still, the site's readership has been up as much as 30% some months this year. ComScore put Breitbart's traffic in June at 1.1 million unique visitors. Sprawling Huffington Post attracts more than 38 million visitors.
Regardless of size, Breitbart.com can find its way to the center of the political conversation. When aides to Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney said recently that the time had come to "vet the president," for some observers that echoed a Breitbart.com series of anti-Obama hits, "The Vetting." Lefty websites quickly chided that the Romney campaign had gone "the full Breitbart" — all attacks all the time.

RED DAWN REMAKE TRAILER

CITIZENS UNITED DAVID BOSSIE TALKS ABOUT ANDREW BREITBART'S "OCCUPY UMASKED""

Today , Citizens United Chairman David Bossie, discusses the importance of the distribution deal for his latest film "Occupy Unmasked" on Big Hollywood

It is because of the dedication of Andrew Breitbart, writer/director Stephen K. Bannon and others at Breitbart.com who have been exposing the seedy underbelly of the Occupy Wall Street movement that we were able to take viewers into the Occupy camps around the country to see first-hand the truth of what is happening there.  Occupy Unmasked is a tribute to Andrew Breitbart’s legacy and now, because of this distribution deal, millions more will have access to this important film heading into November.
The support of people across the country who have shown an interest and pre-ordered the film helped us demonstrate a demand and secure this deal. Magnet Releasing co-owner Mark Cuban said, "We are releasing it because we believe there is an audience for it. We never release movies to support one side or another. We release movies because we believe they can be profitable."
[edit]
Please continue to support this film by pre-ordering it, going to see it in theaters in September and ordering it on Video on Demand.
As I said before I have seen the full film and it is amazing well worth the trek to the theatre, VOD download or DVD pre-order.

If you been talking on how "Hollywod doesnt give you what you want to see" then let me say: the time for talk has ended and the time to get off your ass and go down to see this.Between the theatrical, VOD and DVD platforms there is no execuse not to see when it comes out in September.

GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE DUE TO REFINERY EXPLOSION

From the Los Angeles Times.

Pump prices for regular gasoline jumped by more than a nickel a gallon overnight as they climbed back toward $4, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch. Usually, gasoline prices change by less than a penny a gallon during any 24-hour period.
The Auto Club said it was one of the first retail price reactions to the fire earlier this week at Chevron Corp.'s sprawling Richmond refinery. Although the refinery is on the shore of San Rafael Bay, north of San Francisco and Oakland, it is an important fuel provider for Southern California.
“Monday night’s major fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond had an immediate effect on the wholesale gasoline market on Tuesday, which has caused gas prices to shoot up since then,” said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring.
“Southern Californians have already been experiencing increased pump prices for nearly a month due to higher oil prices, and this incident has just made the increases come even more quickly," Spring added.
The parts of the refinery that were not affected by the fire are still operating, but Chevron hasn't said how much fuel they are able to produce. At peak performance, the plant is capable of producing 243,000 barrels a day, making it the state's third biggest refinery.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.956 per gallon, which is 10.3 cents more than last week, 25 cents higher than last month, and 17 cents higher than last year.
If you are hoping that the refinery will be back up soon that does not look likely.

The damage caused by a fire at the Chevron refinery in Richmond will take months to repair and will hobble one of the West Coast's biggest sources of fuel, industry experts said Wednesday.
And while panic buying appears to have prompted a jump in wholesale gasoline prices after Monday night's fire, analysts say, the longer-term effect on California drivers may not be as dire as initially feared.
The fire erupted in the facility's only crude-oil processing unit, the heart of any refinery. So far company officials have not disclosed the extent of damage or a timetable for bringing the unit back online.
Fires involving crude oil units at other refineries, in California and elsewhere, have required repairs that took three months or more.
Photos of the fire show that at least three units used to cool water within the plant's machinery were extensively damaged and will need to be reconstructed from scratch, said Richard Kuprewicz, a pipeline safety expert who used to help run an Arco refinery in Los Angeles County.
"They've got to rebuild them, and that will take a while," he said. "If they work 24/7, it will still take a while. Some of this stuff is not available off the shelf; the parts have to be ordered. They can scour the country, but it's not a like a car part."
Kuprewicz said when his refinery had to rebuild about four cooling units, it took two months, working around the clock. "You're not going to fix it in a couple days."

WHY MAGNET RELEASING DISTRIBUTING ANDREW BREITBART'S "OCCUPY UNMASKED" IS IMPORTANT

On Monday the conservatvie movement was rocked by news that Citizens United / Victory Film Group's new documentary, "Occupy Unmasked" was picked up for distribution by Mark Cuban's Magnet Releasing. While many were happy for what David Bossie and Steve Bannon were able to accomplish there were a few in the movement that reacted negatively.

Being sick of naysayers personally I was happy to read this article on Breitbart.com by Christan Toto.

It's a chance for conservative audiences to support a film they can actually see without having to hop on a jet or travel for hours in their car. Video on Demand services are changing the way audiences access independent films, allowing folks in smaller towns the same chance to see cutting edge movies their big city peers enjoy.
Should "Occupy Unmasked" thrive, it will do more than give audiences a look at OWS they won't find in mainstream media outlets. It could crack open the door for like-minded filmmakers to finally make movies the country can see.
Folks, you win when you engage and connect mainstream audiences and the best way to do that is use current infrastructure. Bosie and Bannon have done their part by producing  and securing mainstream independent distribution for "Occupy Unmasked". Now the ball is in the court of those who have demanding such entertainment for them.

Having seen the entire completed film back in June I can say it is an amazing documentary on both a content and technical level. The direction, editing, music, sound design are all top notch and are on par with studio films. The film is also very moving in that it is one of the final times we will get to hear and see Andrew Breitbart at his best. (I must also point out that the documentary Hating Breitbart has yet to announce its distribution plans)

This is your opportunity to make your voice heard. Where will you be this fall when "Occupy Unmasked" is released?

MAGNET RELEASING PICKS UP ANDREW BREITBART'S "OCCUPY UNMASKED" FIR THEATRCIAL AND V.O.D. DISTRIBUTION

Major news regarding one of the films Andrew Breitbart worked on before his passing.

New York, August 6, 2012 -  The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing announced today an all rights distribution deal for Citizens United Productions’ documentary OCCUPY UNMASKED, one of the last projects featuring the late conservative icon Andrew Breitbart. OCCUPY UNMASKED was written and directed by award-winning director Stephen K. Bannon and produced by David N. Bossie. Magnet is giving the film a limited theatrical release day and date with VOD in late September.
"This film is controversial, and that's exactly the reason we want to ensure it can find its audience prior to the November elections,” said Mark Cuban, co-owner of Magnet. “I look forward to our partnership with Citizens United Productions and to getting this film out to the masses.”
OCCUPY UNMASKED takes viewers into the Occupy Wall Street camps around the country in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Portland, Denver and Oakland for an up-close look at what’s happened there and who’s at the heart of the movement, documenting criminal activity and raw brutality in the camps – much of which has not been reported by the mainstream media. In addition to Andrew Breitbart, the film features journalists Brandon Darby, David Horowitz, Pam Keys, Anita MonCrief, Mandy Nagy, and Lee Stranahan.
Mark Cuban is owner of the Landmark Theater Chain and he has a strong presence in the VOD arenas as well.

Here is Breitbart.com John Nolte on the deal's announcement.

Four years ago, just before the launch of his flagship site Big Hollywood, Andrew said he had one simple goal: a seat at the table. The idea was never to silence the left or to do to Hollywood what it had done to conservatives and conservative ideas -- exterminate them. All Andrew wanted was for our side and our ideas and beliefs to get a fair hearing in the world of popular culture.
Had you asked him then if he thought it was possible that a mere four years later one of the most openly liberal Hollywood players would not only distribute a film that was his brainchild but do so right before a crucial presidential election, I'm not sure what Andrew would've said. But I would've told you that you were insane.
Mark Cuban didn’t have to do this. He certainly doesn’t need the money, and he has to know that Big Hollywood has been critical of some of his films. Moreover, just a few months ago, Cuban invested $30,000 in ensuring Obama's reelection. But now he's going to invest who knows how much money to ensure that a film highly critical of Obama, one that takes an unflinching look at an appalling movement the president not only encouraged but also endorsed, is seen by as many potential voters as possible.
But such is the power of Andrew Breitbart -- his drive, fight, charisma, and brilliance. We are now in the fifth month after his untimely passing, and the ripple effect of his influence and impact is not only not receding, it's growing into something closer to a tidal wave.
With the announcement of the kind of distribution deal for "Andrew Breitbart Presents: Occupy Unmasked" any independent filmmaker would kill for, Andrew has not only earned himself a seat at the table – he did so in the most impossible way imaginable – without compromise; he did so without taking even a baby step back from his beliefs, his ideas, his agenda and who he is.
I have seen the completed film and I can say it is outstanding. I know where I will be in late September since this is a major win for Breitbart and for conservative in the industry. I know what I will be watching in September and I ask is where will you be?
